Springvale Park was the home of Ayr Academicals (later Ayr United FC) from 1879. Cycle racing events were held there in the 1880's. The Wheel World reported that Ayr AAC held a cycle event there on 9th June 1883, the races were: 2 miles handicap - won by DW Laing (scratch) in 8m 15s, 1 mile handicap - won by DW Lain (scratch) in 3m 30s and 1 mile tricycle race - won by J Hay in 4m 50s.
In 1895 the British Ladies Football Club played at Springvale Park in front of a crowd of 5,000.
In 1922, housing was built on the park where there is a street called Springvale Park off Midton Road.
